Varsity DECA · Deca Updates

Recent/Upcoming events for King’s Deca:

  • Earlier in December, Intro to Marketing students completed seven modules through EverFi Learning related to the basic principles of financial literacy. After completing these modules, students filmed and submitted 3-5 minute videos to DECA to compete against other students in the BECU Financial Literacy Challenge. Later in the month, it was announced that three King’s students placed amongst the top 3 competitors in this challenge. Make sure to congratulate sophomore Tyler Garrettson for placing third, freshman Emma Wheat for placing second, and sophomore Natalie Lukson for placing first.
  • On Tuesday, January 19th, the King´s DECA Chapter gathered in Schirmer Auditorium to watch the live Area 2 Competition awards ceremony! 37 out of 49 King´s students proceeded to place amongst the top 9 competitors, meaning we had a record-breaking 75.5% win rate! These winners will be advancing to compete at the WA DECA State Career Development Conference in early March.
  • Our DECA chapter will be competing virtually at the WA DECA State Career Development Conference from March 3-6. Those who advance from Area 2 competitions will compete at this event in either individual series events and/or paper events. The winners of State will proceed to compete virtually at the International Career Development Conference in late April!
